Issued on an irregular basis by University Libraries, University of Houston, Houston, TX 77204-2091. ---------------------------------------------------------------- NEW CD-ROM DATABASES FROM DIALOG Dialog Information Services, Inc. has announced six new CD-ROM products: (1) OnDisc AEROSPACE DATABASE, which provides international coverage of scientific and technical literature related to aerospace engineering (available Fall 1990); (2) OnDisc Ei CHEMDISC, which covers technology issues for chemical engineers (available now); (3) OnDisc KIRK-OTHMER, which contains the full-text of the third edition of the Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology (available summer 1990); (4) OnDisc L.A. Times, which provides the full-text of all three daily versions of the Los Angeles Times plus stories unique to the Orange County, San Diego, Chatsworth, and Ventura editions (available late summer 1990); (5) OnDisc METADEX COLLECTION, which combines the METADEX, MATERIALS BUSINESS FILE, and ENGINEERED MATERIALS ABSTRACTS databases to cover the areas of metals, polymers, and ceramics (available Fall 1990); and (6) OnDisc SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, which provides the full-text of the San Jose Mercury News (available Fall 1990). GEAC SYSTEM WILL BE LINKED TO CD-ROM OPAC Geac Computer Corporation and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Libraries have announced a cooperative project to link MIT's Geac Series 8000 system with microcomputer-based Marcive/PAC CD-ROM online catalogs. This interface will permit bibliographic and item status information to be downloaded from the Geac system to the Marcive CD-ROM OPAC units. The software modules that will be developed will also be available for use with Geac Series 9000 systems. + Page 2 + INCREASED OPTIONS FOR LOCALLY MOUNTED DATABASES All databases from the Information Access Company, such as GENERAL PERIODICALS INDEX, can now be licensed for local use and loaded into NOTIS Systems, Inc.'s Multiple Database Access component.
