Released 12/25/92 Alliances - Drakkhar

Merry Christmas from iTS! Look forward to a very happy new year with even
more iTS releases in 1993...

Now, on with the text!

There are other ways to make confrence calls besides having multiple lines and
a phone with confrence calling capabilities. This way is called a
"Tele-Conference", or more commonly, an "Alliance". You can make use of this
service by either paying for it, or dialing it through a PBX (private branch
exchange).

To set up an Alliance, you will need the numbers of everybody you wish to call.
Now, tally up the number of people you are going to call (including you), and
write it down.

To start, dial 0+700-456-1000. Now, that annoying computer voice will tell you
to enter the amount of people you wish to call. Enter it. Now, it will instruct
you to press the number sign, #, to continue. Do so. Now, dial 1+ACN of the
first phone number. Press the number sign, #, to accept this, or press the
asterisk, *, to cancel. Repeat this for every person who you wish to call,
and you will all be connected.

As mentioned earlier, you can do it through a PBX. You can also set up an
alliance through an extender, or with a calling card. Just make sure that
the extender or PBX you're setting it up through does not have ANI (automatic
number identification) if you are setting it up from your own house. If the PBX
or extender does have ANI, or if you are setting it up through a calling card,
make sure to do it from a phone booth. If you are using a calling card to do
this, instead of 1+ACN, dial 0+ACN, and wait for the bleep or "please enter
your card number now", and enter the calling card number. If the phone booth
is private and secluded, and you don't mind sitting there forever, just stay
there. If you want to talk in the comfort of your own home, but are
setting it up from a calling card, or a PBX or extender with ANI, simply
dial your home phone when setting the alliance up. Make sure you have somebody
there to pick it up and hold it till you get home. But, you will have to
make sure that the phone booth will not be hung up, or the whole alliance is
down the drain. If nobody is watching, you can just clip the phone cord and
discard the handset; nobody will hang it up. This way, if you want to leave,
but don't want to end the alliance, just hang up your phone. It was set up from
the phone booth, so the other people can keep on talking.
