]TYPE ABT PHANTOM ACCESS NOTES: ------ This is the REAL Phantom Access. If you think you're going to boot it and use it, think again. I've been up half the night reading this shit, my brain hurts and I still dont understand how to make it work. Figure on spending a whole day with this before you can even hack something. It's really cool, but fucking HARD to use. I hate PRODOS and I tried to convert the miscdisk to DOS so that you could TYPE or TLIST it, but even when I take DOS off the disk, it still won't fit. Side 2 has 0 blocks space left and I dunno if it's just my copy of convert, but it doesn't convert shit, except MLI errors. Somehow the DOS versions end up being longer then the PRODOS versions, so I had to leave it alone. The miscdisk is really a mess, cause whoever (the uncredited guy) edited out all the pathnames and figured out which messages he wanted to use, cut them all up so you can't tell who is replying to what. It's all really confusing. It's interesting, but real hard to understand who is being replied to, cause some of the replies aren't there and some of the messages that start the replies that are there, arent there either. And some of the messages are cut up so that parts are missing. I guess this was done so it would all fit on 2 sides, cause there aren't any blocks free. Also if you have a hard drive, what's really cool is that all the programs exec PAX files after they finish, so you can do stuff life put them on different volumes or have a main menu on your hard drve run Phantom Access and then have Phantom Access put you back at the main menu when you're done using it. I've tried changing them around with my own drives and found no problems with it. I also wanted to put a title page on it, since I dont think it got distribution so it couldnt hurt to get some credit, but there isn't even room for that, all the sides are filled up. Please pass this file around with the disks, so I get some credit for my trouble and other people understand whats going on. The best thing to do is print out the phantom access docs and try to figure it out. .:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:. : : : Phantom Access 5.7K : : By Lord Digital : : : : Originally Brought to Distribution, : : By Matrix Murderer & Uncredited?? : : : : "Read Me First" Written by : : Matrix Murderer : : : : "Pa Intro" Written by Uncredited : : Unless MM removed his credit, cuz I : : didn't remove anything and only add : : in this file that you're reading! : : : : Released by The Ripper : : March 23, 1987 : : : : Thanks to Ware Bandit! : : : :.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.: : : : The first BBS to EVER have the : : Phantom Access programs online was: : : : : Underground ][.......602-577-1051 : : : :.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.: : : : Also call these fine boards!! : : : : Terrapin Station.....505-865-0883 : : (pw: cicada) : : Lair of the Beast....505-268-8960 : : : :.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.: ]TYPE ABOUT PHANTOM ACCESS 2 After all this time Phantom Access is ou t. I have a few problems with that. (1) Only the code hack module is out. Or that's all I've found so far. (2) There are 3 different versions out. 2 don't work right and don't have features that the other one does. Th e one that I think was the release copy instead of beta, is 4 sides lon g. This version is cool. It has code ut ilities which is really nice. Plus the hacker itself does things that n o other hacker can do. It makes all current hackers like Schweitzer, Meg aphreak, Gnu Hacker, etc, look like so much shit. It is great for people who box too, because it does all that. GET IT! I know there are 500 different hackers out there, but I'm only going to compare Phantom Access and MegaPhreak because between the two of them, there is no function that can't be done. Reading through the Phantom Access docs, there are many functions present which I personally can't get to work because I don't know what the hell they are! There are still disks and docs missing for Phantom Access and then there's the 6.6 version which does god knows what. I'm only reviewing the 5.7K copy I have (The version distributed by The Ripper) because 1. If I don't know how to make it work, I can't review it and 2. It's not fair to compare features that most people don't have access to. The only other thing that bears mentioning is that I'm reviewing the Ripper's 5.7K version of PA and the latest update of MegaPhreak. PA5.7K is 2 years old and MegaPhreak is about 2 months old. They are both the only hackers which are really "programmable". _______________________________________________________________________________ | | | Feature | | Phantom Access | MegaPhreak ________|_________________________________________|________________|___________ Hack Codes: Sequential: YES YES Random: YES YES Pseudo-Random: NO* NO Custom: NO* NO Variable Increment: NO* YES Wildcards: NO* YES Saturation (Code Lockout): YES YES Dialing: Tone: YES YES Pulse: YES YES MF: YES NO Blue Box Functions: YES NO KP: YES NO ST: YES NO ABCD Tones: YES NO Custom Tones: YES NO Pickup variables: Pick up phone (duh): YES YES Hang up phone (duh): YES YES 3-way delay: NO* YES Test line condition: YES NO Logic to detect status, skip pick-up & make only 1 outgoing call: YES NO Random onhook time: NO* YES Code Testing: No Sound: YES YES Sound: YES NO Carrier: YES YES Accuracy: 100% makes errors Speed when code is invalid: FASTER SLOWER Speed when code is valid: USER SELECTABLE Recheck option: YES YES Length of codes: 1-254 1-10 Hack multiple ports: NO* NO Hardware mods: Needed: NONE NONE Supported: Pulse Dial Pulse Dial Clock Card End run conditions: Manual escape: YES YES End after x codes: NO* YES After x tries: NO* YES Start at time end at time: NO* NO Date support: YES NO General: Complexity of program possible: 10 1 (on a scale of 1 to 10) # of steps possible: 10,668 254 # of programs that can be saved: Infinite 1 Hacker configurations saveable: Infinite 1 Screen display information: 10 1 Appearance of programs: 10 5 Supports hard disk & multiple volumes: YES NO Supporsts Cat slot besides #2: YES YES Supports variable dial speeds: YES YES Supports exec quit files: YES NO Utilities: YES NO Logical construction of hacker program: 10 2 Docs: 10 10 Output: Disk: YES YES Printer: YES YES System Name: YES NO Status file: YES mixed with codes Information content of status file: 10 1 _____________________________________________________|________|________________ Overall performance on a scale of 1 to 10: 10 5 Performance is sometimes relative to what is needed. For example the Phantom Access docs are much more extensive, neatly formatted and print out to a printer in perfect formatting. The MP docs are much shorter, not as neatly formatted and don't print out anywhere without a word processor. But they both get a rating of 10, because the rating is relevent to what is needed. MP doesnt even really need docs, so anything is good and Ubik did a good job describing all his functions. Without docs you'd be lost with PA, but Lord Digital did an excellent job with the docs which are complete, offer examples and anwer any questions that come. EXCEPT: where are the rest of the docs dammit! "NO*" means that Phantom Access CAN do it, but not without the System Editor which I don't have, or without further explanation of what needs to be done to make files like rotation systems(?). If ANYONE has it, PLEASE upload the system editor so PA can be customized, also the rest of the docs on C1 and C2 that explain the other files and how to make them! As you can see it's hard to compare them exactly. They are both "programmable" but that's not really true with megaphreak. It might be more accurate to say that Megaphreak has a lot of options that can be turned on or off and places where it can dial a number, but it can't do ANYTHING at any time and some of it's commands are redundant: S: dial service D: dial destination #: dial number .: wait 1 second :: wait 2 seconds While Phantom Access let's you dial any # anywhere at any time with a single command "D". In dial mode you put a "@" for each second, or just a seperate command called T, that waits Time for the # of seconds following it. Mphreak is the 1987 logical progression of the original Cat Hacker 3.7 and adds option after option to the "standard" hacker layout. Phantom Access is hacking from a totally different angle: the hacker is a series of subroutines that control the modem and you can put them together in any order you want to. Almost like a very limited programming langauge that let's you control the Cat. The later versions are supposed to be an actual language. When redundant commands are removed mphreak has only 5: Dial Wait Wait for dial tone Take audio picture Test code Mphreak could have been much smoother and functioned more like PA without so many redundant commands if Ubik had thought it through more completely. On the other side: Phantom Access is hard to use, takes time to learn, and nothing is automatic. With Mphreak you have a hacker like all the other hackers you've ever used, so you can boot it up and use it, with Phantom Access something as basic as pick up of the phone is not automatic and you have to spend a lot of time learning it's structure before you can take advantage of it and use it to it's limits. When you boot megaphreak you get a familliar style of menu. When you go to the start hack section of Phantom Access you get a series of questions that take little input from the keyboard because most of the information has to already exist on a file that has to be made with another program. When many people first ran Phantom Access they thought it didn't work at all because they didn't read the docs and just tried to run it. With mphreak you can do it and start hacking, with Phantom Access you can't. You need to understand it. Mphreak didn't even have docs until the very last revision, if you didn't have docs for Phantom Access and didn't have example "sub-modules" you might as well delete it because you'll never get it to work. It all depends on what you need to do. Phantom Access delivers with more flash and bang, but if all you need to do is hack your local 950 to get codes to cat-fur's (like was said in apple cat software reviews which first reviewed phantom access), then you don't need PA, or even Megaphreak. Gnu Hacker will suffice nicely. If you do use PA or MP they're about the same on local lines since PA can't be customized or sped up without the system editor (damn that makes me mad!), when hacking complicated or non-standard systems, PA totally leaves MP in the dust. "MegaPhreak has been designed to be the most sophisticated hacker available today. If you can't do it with megaphrfak it can't be done!" That's from the Mphreak docs and not very true. There are many features that Mphreak lacks that Phantom Access can do and there are features that Mphreak has, that Phantom Access can't do in it's present state. "Cases whre you would benefit from modications involve oddball situations which should not exist to begin with. i.e. call waiting, 3-way calling, or other 'features' that certain idiots insist on adding to their modem dedicated lines. In any case 1 line for - next loops take care of this and can be linked together under their own heading: options for the terminally stupid." "If the features you wish to implement are not built into the system editor's linkage routines, chances are they're useless. Many people write features that are present to satisfy their own neurosis while serving no actual purpose in avoiding the pitfalls of whatever technology you are up against." That's from Phantom Access and I get the feeling it's applicable to a few "features" of Mphreak. I don't know but I personally find some of them useless. I could be wrong and they could be present In PA too in the "system editor's linkage routines" but I don't know because I don't have the fucking system editor or the linkage routines! All I have is the "generic" 5.7K setup. Within a few weeks all the new hackers and all the older hackers being revised (if they are) will probably copy some of the functions found in Phantom Access, so the choice of hackers will be larger. Myself, I'm changing over from MP 2.3f, to Phantom Access. If this version leaked out, then the rest of it has to arrive sometime also. When all the hackers that copy PA's functions come out they still won't be as versatile unless they totally copy the PA design which would be a waste of time presuming the System Editor comes out and lets you make your own copies of PA. I also have more trust in what Lord Digital comes up with as compared to the other people writing hackers. I've kept rumors and reputations and everything but facts on programs sitting in front of me, out of my reviews, but my faith leans toward LD's design over Ubik or anyone elses. Zone Trooper /April 11, 1987/ ] TYPE WORKING WITH PHANTOM ACCESS ======================================= Written on April 9th, 1987 By Shotgun Slayer for Club Zero ======================================= Club Zero..................213-395-0221 ======================================= There's a place in the PA.DOCS where LD says something like "A lot of the features aren't totally obvious" that's an understatement. After spending a few hours with this program, I've come to the conclusion that there's nothing it can't do. In a way its almost like AppleWorks or something like that, you cane make the program do anything you want it to do by loading up different setups. One of the features missing from PA is bought up in msg.dump01 on the miskdisk as having been added to later versions. That feature is a easy way to change volumes if you're running off a hard disk. You need to go to load/save and input new values and it's a pain in the ass. I dunno why PA execs quit files instead of just running the programs, I suspect it might be to let the programs that are missing, hook into the other programs. But with exec files running them, you can make them do anything without touching a key! ======================================= As it comes on the disk, this is what the exec files do: PAX0 - This is just the startup pax that runs the screens and stuff. Unless you're going to move the main menu, title page and docs onto your hard disk (why?) you don't need to copy this over. PAX1 - This program links to the file "PA.UTILS" The utility module. PAX2 - This program links to the file "PA.EDITOR" The Sub-Module edit. PAX3 - This program links to the file "PHANTOM ACCESS 5.7K" The hacker itself. ======================================= PAX comes like this: TEXT POKE 44452,22 POKE 44605,21 POKE 44507,76 POKE 44508,224 FP TEXT clears the screen from the previous program, the pokes restore a normal catalog (PA removes sector count in it's catalogs) and the FP is obvious. I'm running it off a sider on volume 9, so I changed my PAX to this: FP TEXT POKE 1912,52 PR#7 The poke 1912 tells the Sider that it has 52 dos volumes, for some reason it gets screwed up leaving Phantom Access if you don't tell it that. So just poke however many dos volumes you have, into location 1912. PR#7 reboots my system and brings me to the main menu. ======================================= PAX0 I deleated ======================================= PAX1 comes like this: FP RUN PA.UTILS I changed mine to this: FP RUN PA.UTILS 11C 719 X 4 You need to keep the FP in there or it will crash for some reason. After it enters PA.UTILS the 11C take it through to the change drive section, change it to slot 7, drive 1, volume 9 (which is where I put PA), the X exits from that section and the 4 brings it back to the main menu with the right volume slot and drive intact without any keypresses from me. ======================================= PAX2 comes like this: FP RUN PA.EDITOR I changed mine to this: FP RUN PA.EDITOR 21C 719 X 4 This does the same thing as the other file, only uses different keys for the different setup of the editor. ======================================= PAX3 comes like this: FP RUN PHANTOM ACCESS 5.7K I changed mine to this: FP RUN PHANTOM ACCESS 5.7K 7 1 9 1MCI That runs the hacker, puts in my slot, drive, volume, tells it to start the hack and load sub-module MCI. You could even take it all the way through the menu's so you wouldn't hit 1 key and it would start hacking. or part of the way through, if you use the same defaults a lot of the time, like all the way through to the "dial-through" prompt. ======================================= The reason that the #'s are smashed together in some places and have a c/r after them in other places, is because the programs GET in some locations and take INPUT in others. So make sure that you don't put a c/r after a command in a place where the programs are GETting or you'll screw it up. ======================================= Hope that helped someone! \Shotgun /Slayer\ ]TYPE PHANTOM ACC: 4/15/87 ======================================= There are messages going around now saying that you can pick up ANY side 1 (or a1) of Phantom Access and use it with the other 3. This is BULLSHIT!!! You can't do it and it won't work, I've tried it and I've even compared the files. They are not the same thing! The disks that Dead Lord passed around contain programs that are as much as 50 sectors SHORTER then their counterparts on the offical version. This isn't because one is compiled and the other isn't, because they both are! (compiled). You NEED to get the entire 4 sides that number a1,a2,m1,m2. Or the docs won't print right, the options won't work right and a lot of other things will be fucked up and you won't be happy! ======================================= I got Phantom Access from The Ripper. If you want to contact him just leave him mail on one of the boards he lists at the end of his "about" file. This is the story with PA: 6.6 is I dunno what because I don't have it, Ripper doesn't have it and Ripper's contacts don't have it. So I don't know what the fuck it is. 5.7K is made a LOT clearer if you read the miscdisk messages. 5.7K is the name used for a whole bunch of programs that are all different versions except signiture bytes on the inside. The (maybe not THE but one of them at least) RELEASE version of 5.7K is 6 sides long. The miscdisk's ARE NOT part of the series (duh). Some people keep asking that: what the fuck you think? read them and figure it out. NO they aren't part of the series, which means 4 sides are still missing. Those are the mainframe scanner, the system editor and more docs. There is NO scanner (for carriers) in the 5.7 series AT ALL. I don't know why he could make a mainframe scanner work on simpler systems but not the carrier scanner, I guess it has a lot of features that other scanners dont have, cuz the ones I see are like 25 sectors long, so it couldn't be like those. I'm just guessing about the third program (call Wraith) from what I'm told and from what I read on the PA disks, but it doesn't sound like a carrier scanner, so if its not then what is a "scanner"? and what else does it do? To recap that: 4 sides are left to be put out, Ripper is working on it, his sources have ALL the sides, Matrix Murderer has all the sides and some of the people ragged on have all the sides too. (ragged on by MM) The Ripper is now getting death threats and general harassment from "Federal Agent" a guy Matrix Murderer ragged on in the misc disk. Just read the miscdisk it makes life a lot eaisier for everyone and unconfuses a lot of stuff. /Shotgun \Slayer/ Club Zero...................213-395-0221 ======================================= ]TYPE PHANTOM ACC: FROM FED AGENT April 15, 1987 Since "The Ripper" deemed it necessary to respond to me in an "open" reply, I felt he merited the same treatment. You don't know me, I don't want to know you and this SHORT file is being written to prevent further misunderstanding before a relatively minor incident is blown out of proportion as seems to happen so often these days. It thrills the bejesus out of me that Phantom Access sides a1 and a2 are now in the hands of the unwashed peasants of the modem community, more than I can begin to say. This is NOT about Phantom Access, its about a little remark The Ripper saw fit to make at my expense. The Ripper is a 15 year old pud whose life isn't over, I've only added a little entertainment for him these last few weeks. He seems to feel otherwise and labors under the delusion that he has been terribly hurt and maimed by my little jokes. If someone were trying to hurt you, you'd know it by now. The reason I picked on YOU is rather simple: "Your" release of the disks contained some idiotic remark like "Rag on these losers" and then listed my handle. I don't care if Matrix Murderer made it and not you, because I don't know Matrix Murderer from a hole in the wall, so for all I know you might be him. While "Dead Lord's" entry was no more intelligent than yours, he only repeated the delusions under which he is laboring, to the public. If Andrew, Chase, Pete, Asif, Yuri and any other permutation of the 212/718 crowd don't know any better, I can't expect Dead Lord to come up with anything better than that which his "sources" tell him. Unless he's consulting his local psychic, he couldn't possibly do any "better" than he did. The fact is that it doesn't concern me, I could give a rat's ass what people think, until I am dragged into it. Especially when I'm dragged into it in such a blatantly stupid and offhand way. "Rag on these losers" I'm a loser because I didn't pack up the disks and send them to 50 cat-fur's? Fuck off. I'm being very high-handed and arrogant right now, Mr. Digital would comment that writing in that manner denotes insecurity on my part, but Mr. Digital probably won't be reading this and if he is, he too may fuck himself if it doesn't suit him. What I want to clear up is the remark I made about not liking LD. I have nothing against LD as I hope he will remember if he is reading this. For a long time I thought Mr. Digital was all right. Except discovering religion (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) has had the opposite effect on LD, then it does for most people. Instead of gaining new reverence for life, he lost whatever reverence he might have had for it, making it all right to hurt anyone he wants to for the most trivial reasons. One such person is someone I personally cared about and was trying to get "closer" to at the time Mr. Digital was in my corner of the world. In blows Mr. Digital with his Porsche, his money, his perfect manners and his newly resurfaced good looks. Two days later it looks to my "future" friend like Prince Charming (chaotic evil version, but Prince Charming's are hard to come by in the real world) has come to town to sweep her off her feet and take her to a life of leisure and 24 hour good times. You can't argue with someone who has delusions like that, all it takes is one honest question to Patrick: "Do you love her?" to get a laugh for an answer. Not a yes or a no, a laugh in the face. Maybe he didn't know it at the time, but that hurt, me as well as her 4 days later when he took off again. You can't tell a person (girl) that her dream come true doesn't care about her in the least, when he looks like everything she wants. I don't hold it against him, because maybe he didn't even know it at the time and thought that she understood it didn't mean anything. That might be true, but I don't think he would have cared anyway. The only thing he is capable of feeling love for are his "real" friends (not questioning his masculinity, I mean love in the brotherly sense) and his pets, both of which rank higher than anyone else. As I hope you can see, this really has nothing to do with Phantom Access, Mr. Ripper. My dislike of LD is not on the "professional" level, I don't question his abilities or creative talent, I simply hate his attitude and have some problems with him personally. For future reference Mr. Ripper: That space before you start a paragraph is called an "indent" usually 5 spaces long, though most people just hit tab and leave it at whatever their word processor sets for tab. Grammar is not a disease and spelling won't hurt you. I've spoken with Cereal Killer today, he says he will be writing a definitive file that will answer any questions anyone has regarding Phantom Access, whatever happened to Lord Digital and what certain options do and how to make them work. CK is a member of S_R, Mr. Digital's organization and well qualified to field any questions people may have. I don't know what form this will take, because I know CK and know he isn't good at being serious and I know that he doesn't think that highly of the modem community either. I believe he's going to do it for the sole reason of explaining things, once and for all, so some idiot with no information, or half-information (like the late, lamented author of "fall of the modem world") won't feel some crazed desire to fill up additional sides of disks with fictitious and untrue heresy. This should come out when CK gets back to NY some time in late April. Your friend, The Federal Agent ]TYPE PHANTOM ACC: FROM DEAD LORD Firstly to Ripper: your entire file was a plea to FA to pick on me instead of you. I have no fear that with my friends help I can protect myself from any harrassment, except in the most extreme circumstances. This was not an extreme circumstance. My resentment however stems from the fact that you act as if you know me, while you don't. You have no knowledge of any of my motives in releasing my version of PA. My sole reason was to let people see the title page I'd made. My friends and I found it very humorous. As for you, FA, I suspect you are Joe, Black Death to me of course, or one his clones. I still think that all the things said about Pat is nonsense and just a game, I don't care , but it is very hard to take seriously any of this stuff, especially based on Patrick's past history (ie: The Sigmund project w/ Asif and others) I don't claim to have any "sources" of Patrick info, such "sources" are not desirable. I got Phantom Access from Yuri The Plague who I don't think very highly of at this point(I'm not worried that he will read this, as he just buried his modem in his back yard; honestly). I don't care that "itz only a beta version dood!!!", I don't use it and can't understand why its so desirable. If the rest of it comes out, fine, let it. If I need to ASCII hack something(rare) I set up a UNIX with cu on it to do it for me, not set up my Apple to tie up my phone for three days. To conclude, if the modem kids want to keep up the Lord Digital cult and bow down to the great god P-t, fine, I have no burning need to be its high priest. I am no expert on Pat, and I hesitate to comment on what is probably Pat's mindfuck with pirates. I DO maintain accounts on a few pirate boards, but please don't take my posts in response to the discussion on the 'koolest area kode d00d!' as anything but facetious. First Dead Lord has relabelled his disk as the real a1 and is uploading it around with the Ripper's 3 sides, without any credit. Now The Plague is going off in some other file about how everyone is a dickhead and a loser and saying that PA 5.7k direct dials the destination # as a bug. Jeez, 5.7K the one The Ripper put out, the real one, works fine. The one Dead Lord put out has bugs. I've repeated that over 20 times. The Plague is being a dildo, ragging everyone, when Dead Lord says TP is the one who leaked it to begin with, then saying it direct dials the destination # to scare people. IT DOESN'T! First of all there is no place for a "destination #"! It's just another D"string" command like any number of other D commands that can be put in a sub-module. Even assuming he wasn't full of shit, who cares? What happens when you direct dial a long distance # with no 1 in front of it? You get a recording saying "please dial 1". Where does the 1 magically come from that would be put in front of the destination #, even when the program doesn't know the destination # from any other D command? Finally even assuming all that was true, what is the destination you're dialing to? A termination # that doesn't supervise (it's free) you could direct dial the # all day and it still wouldn't show up on your phone bill.
