              Joining the DREADLoC Team

Let me start by saying that I am rather against
affiliations, especially since they don't mean much and many
kids think it is "Kewl" to have three or four of them. If
you are planning on being part of the DREADLoC Team just
so you can say you are, stop reading now and forget about it.

ANSI/VGA ARTISTS:
Currently, there are no provisions for alernative interface
sets; however, future releases of DREADLoC will be set to
handle this. Since the ANSiZine is in its early stages of
production, I didn't want to over do it too much. I am a firm
believer in KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) methodology.

If you are interested in creating an interface for DREADLoC,
I could certainly use it and impliment it. However, an
an ANSI inerface will not get you an affiliation since it would
be one-time event only. DREADLoC is in the business of writing,
not offering millions of interfaces.

However, VGA artists should point their attentions to a new
section of the magazine (hopefully inplimented by issue #2)
where VGA's are reviewed like literature and ANSI's currently
are. I would prefer to have someone involved in the scene who
has a good sense of what is good and what is not to do the
reviews. If you are a VGA artist and are interested in
contributing to DREADLoC, reviewing VGA releases would DEFINITELY
be the place for you.

COURIERS:
I have a great deal of respect for ANY courier who has done
his job; you put your necks on the line, spend hours on the
phone, and get VERY little individual recognition. However,
there are two reasons why I don't want any couriers for
DREADLOC.

        a. I don't know the first thing about managing
            couriers.
        b. TIME Magazine doesn't own/operate its own postal
service; they use the existing service already
in place. DREADLoC is in the business of writing
            not couriering.

To be totally honest, I am going to be distributing the new
releases of DREADLoC through net mail every month. This is
ALOT easier for me (both work wise and financially); and, I can
insure that my sites get the latest release as quickly as
possible.

CODERS:
Sorry, but I (HOOPTiE) don't work well with ANY other
programmer; especially since the 486 came out. Kids rely on
the extreme speed of a 486-DX66 to hide their poor programming
techniques and generally create poor code.

   DREADLoC has been developed on a 286-12 with only 1Mb of RAM;
All my output routines are routed through the BIOS. I like
clean, concise code that does not require extreme processor
resources, memory, or peripherals.

Therefore, all coders can keep their quick, direct-access
tricks to themselves because the interface will NOT change
unless I change it. It is nothing personal; it is just that
I come from the "old school" and still use logic that works
well and efficient.

POETS:
This is not a literature publication; and, if you are
already writing literature for another magazine, you will most
likely be too busy to concentrate on an informative article
or editorial. I am not closing the door on you; however, if
poetry is what you do best, I would implore that you find a
literary magazine for your work. DREADLoC is primarily for
information, comedy, or editorial type articles.

To be totally honest, I am prepared (and perfectly content)
to write all of the editorial content myself; and, it doesn't
really matter if any new writers are recruited or not. The
bottom line is that I am looking for writers who want to write,
not people who want an affiliation. I have implimented certain
articles that will be published on a regular basis (ansi, lit,
and game reviews) which I will count SOLEY upon outside input.

If, after all these restrictions, you STILL want to become
part of the DREADLoC Team, the application process is easy. I
can be found on any BBS elite enough to have Thunder NET or
the DREADLoC World HeadQuarters, "System Crash" as 216.737.8950.
Simply tell me that you are want to become part of the team.

Here is how the recruitment process works. You MUST
contribute at least one article per month. The first two
months that your article is published, you will be a "DREADLoC
Trial." When your third consecutive article is published, then
you will be a "DREADLoC Staff Author."

Since I am not planning on allowing DREADLoC to turn into
just another affiliation, there is no substitute for the time
requirement - you MUST write consequtively for three months.
Furthermore, writing additional articles during one month will
not expidite the process.

The *ONLY* exception to this policy is for writers

For someone who likes to write, the affiliation won't mean
as much as having their articles published nationally. The
bottom line is that I am willing to accept people who want to
write informative or funny articles; and, I don't even want to
talk to people who just want another affiliation.
