                     Interview with U-Man of Arclite
                 - --------------------------------- -

o1. When did you make your first Ascii attempts?

   - My really first attempts was probably around 90-91 or something when
me and some friends had the hobby to compile demodisks and then we
had to put in a nice designed menu. But the real "career" as an artist
started in late 1992 I guess.

o2. Do you know how many Ascii-productions have you released?

   - Hmm, I think it's around 20.

o3. What's so damn special with Ascii?

   - Nothing! I cant see anything special about it except that it's fun
to do when you don't have anything else in mind.

o4. Have you got any special idols from the Ascii-scene?

   - I adore many people. Too many to mention here. Both old and new ones!

 o5. What's your opinion about the Iff2Ascii-Art?

   - I guess it's ok! Some pieces are really nice looking at! But when
it comes to sign the stuff - no way! I mean, a program have made
      it..

o6. Are dot's more stylish than 'regular' Ascii?

   - No. It all depends on the designers mind. But ofcoz, there are alot
      of stylish dot-logos around.

o7. Do you read every single collection that is released today?

   - Not all of them. There are too many and I dont have the time.

o8. Do you answer requests made to 'All Available Artists' ?

   - Depends if I have had my menstruation or not. Some guys really deserve
getting logos written to ALL, that's it.

o9. How should a request be written to be guarantied a answer from you?

   - "Dear Anders! I've been searching for you on many boards with no success
in finding you. But here you are. I'd like to request the following
logos from you that I promise to use. I have always dreamed of getting
a nice piece of art in any of your awesome styles. Take your time,
I'm no wannabe that thinks my logo is finished in 5 minutes. Bye!"

Something like that is guarantied an answer! :) One thing I really hate
is when people request ascii from me (ie. #amielite, #ascii), and they
start asking me like 5 minutes after I've got the request if their logo
is finished. Respect my life dudes!

1o. Are there more Ascii-groups than there has to be?

   - I personnaly think that there are too many. Well, there are many that
are a bit inactive etc. To tell the truth - I don't really care.

 11. What do you think of the attitude in the Ascii-scene of today?

   - No matter what scene/real life activites you're into there are people
with an attitude. That's life I guess. I could tell you how it was when
I started painting, but that story would bore you all out. Most fights
in the beginning of 93 was like "You're a ripper! Stop it" and in the
next collection the guy that had been accused told all that he had been
ripping. I mean, the problems got solved directly.

 12. What do you think about the idea of having special magazines
      dedicated to the Ascii-scene?

   - It's a good idea.

 13. Is there a big difference between Old-skool Ascii and Ascii of today?

   - Yes there are.

 14. Have you any special projects going on that will be released in a
      near future?

   - Yeah :) A few collections from me, and the sequel for ARMY OF DARKNESS
      by me and Murk Radar!

 15. What would you be doing instead of Ascii if you suddenly quitted?

   - Become more involved in my amateur pornovideos. Maybe set off for
Hollywood or Germany. Nahh, seriously... I would probably do the same
things that I'm doing right now, ie. do what I feel like doing. I'm
a big fan of music, so much time is taken by that hobby. I can say right
now that music takes more time than ascii have ever done to me.

If it wasn't for people like the ones in Mo Soul and Arclite for instance
I'd quit the scene for a long time ago. They bring back the evil side of
      me. :)

 16. Do you have a horny snoop doggy dogg?

   - Nahh, who needs a dog??.. Besides I hate hip-hop!
