Creators in Limbo Message Net

     * Have you ever wished, as an artist, to be able to communicate with
       members from other groups? Facilitate joint artistic efforts?
       Comment on their unique style?

  * Have you ever wanted to know when this group you love is going to
    release it's next pack? Hear reviews from all around about the latest
    effort of your group?
                                                     * Trade ideas?
                * Share pointers?

       * Feel like you're part of a scene and not just a single group?

   A message network for the art scene is probably not the most original
idea around, but--as far as I know--this is the first net to encourage
"group subscriptions" in an effort to give the net a multi-group flavour.
Curious? Well, the way CILnet works goes something like this:

   1) There's the basic core of the net--message areas that are common to
      all those involved. These are:

          * general -- an open topic base for chatting
          * low resolution art -- ansi / ascii / rip
          * high resolution art -- vga
          * literature -- a base for writers
          * music -- midi / mod / s3m / etc.
          * code -- a base for programmers
          * real world art -- covers drawing, painting, and other
                              non-electronic art mediums
          * sysop base -- for testing and technical problems

      Pretty standard issue for an art net.

   2) But, here's the not-so-standard part.. every group that "signs-on" with
      CILnet is given it's own base. For example, the group Hallucigenia has
      a base that it can use to announce pack releases, get feedback from the
      rest of the scene, initiate joint projects with other groups--whatever.
      It is a great way to promote a group and interact with other artists
      outside your normal sphere.

      Requirements for groups signing up with CILnet is an application
      approved by a senior member in the group and a BBS (but, of course,
      more than one is fine) which is associated through distribution or
      member activity with the group. Art-oriented BBSs--whether they are
      directly linked to a particular group or not--are most welcome to pick
      up this net and help spread the scene to more people. Distance is also
      no longer an issue thanks to the Internet and Fido-to-Int or the
      excellent Internet Rex which allow messages nets to be sent through
      email.

   3) In addition there will be two bases for Hallucigenia members only,
      which BBSs don't need to pick up unless they have some Hal members
      around.

      Other groups who would like CiL to carry private bases for their own
      members are welcome! Just tell us what you need, and we'll try to
      help.

    4) Artscene networks have come and gone in the last few years, and you
       may be wondering if CiL will do the same.

       CiLNet is committed to supporting the life of the scene by staying
       alive. The CiL host, Happyfish, is an experienced net host, and
       currently hosts Kitschnet and Tabnet, which have been continuously
       up since 1994 and 1993 respectively. We're not another here today
       gone tomorrow network: we want to add to the life of the scene for
       years to come. Join us and be a part of it.

   Help make this art scene more than just voice-less groups that throw
packs to the wind.. make it into a living, breathing, thriving entity linked
together in the common desire to create.
                                                        Join us.
